Hello Smoking Meats members. My name is Heath McDaniel and new to this forum. I live in Greenville, SC. I'm married and have two young teenage daughters. My current hobbies are spending time with my family and mountain biking here in the beautiful mountains of North and South Carolina. However, I think I'm going to take up smoking as an additional hobbie. There is nothing more relaxing to me than to be grilling or smoking in the back yard with some help from my friend Sam Adams. Especially with two teenage girls.
I had my eye on the Charbroil Duo with fire box for some time. Recently, my lovely wife and kids surprised me with it for my birthday. For my needs its perfect for what I want to do. I use the gas side for quick meal and cooking other stuff while I'm smoking. I use the charcoal side for grilling meals when I have more time. I much prefer grilling with charcoal than gas for the taste. Then there is the fire box and charcoal side when smoking. This is my first charcoal grill / smoker, so I am still learning a lot. I smoked my first meat a few weeks ago. It was chicken breast that were marinated and wrapped in bacon. They turned out great, thanks to some post I read on this forum.
Thank you welcoming me to this forum. I will have many smoking questions in the future, and I look forward to your suggestions and recommendation.
