if you had to take everything with you to use a smoker what would the list look like?

BEER

Cutting board

spices (i have a dedicated box full of them that reside in the camper)

paper towels

plates, bowls, utensils

BEER

fire extinguisher (you never know!)

More beer, paper towels, cooler with more beer, spices if needed, ice for the beer, trash bags for the empty beer & trash, more beer, cutting board, extra water & some type of soap for washing hands, plates & silverware, chair for drinking beer while smoking & I would bring more beer just in case...

Take the things in your list to the nearest park this Saturday and do a smoke. You'll find out what you needed but didn't take pretty quick.

I followed someone's lead here and got me a little tool box and put all my smoker tools in it. That includes heat resistant food handling gloves, rubber gloves, tongs, forks, et al and my 3 remote thermos. I also have a basket by the kitchen stove with all my most used condiments that I take out when I'm grilling (usually don't need them smoking). My pop can stove, alcohol and charcoal stay outside under the cover of my Weber kettle grill along with a propane lighter and a box of matches.

I'm gonna assume that when you say food that is an all inclusive term, but I'd break that down just to be certain. For example, did you mean that you would have whatever you plan to eat already prepped and ready to grill, smoke, fry . . . . ?? If you have to prep on site, that is another whole ball game. You also didn't mention anything to keep the food at an appropriate temperature.

AND . . . you gotta have a bump with the beer and I didn't see anything in your list to do it.

all great advise! and yes food would be prepped prior to going out there.

I like the practice run idea, even if only in your back yard. How many trips back to the house and for what.

I worked in a location that we did a lot of off site catering. We had a basic list of need to have for all events. What has been listed is a great start. However for special events we would actually set up each station and do a run through if each food item coming off of it. This way we could see what was needed. Clean and immediately pack what was used. We would also pack extras of items as well. So a long way to say do test runs of what you plan making....

Well if you are in Jersey hopefully it will be a Giant's game if not drive around the block and tailgate in the driveway and More Beer, just teasing, enjoy
