I know how important my dog is to me...   I know how important your dog is to you...    Check this out....

At least five dogs have been sickened and one has died after eating Evanger’s “Hunk of Beef” canned food. A barbiturate, Pentobarbital, has been confirmed in one lot of the food and the company is concerned people may still have unused cans in their homes.

I haven't seen it either....   I feed my dog Costco dog food...  I quit looking at dog food years ago...   I did buy my dog some of those HUGE plastic wrapped bones at the feed store awhile back..  She got real lethargic after chewing on them...   I pitched them...  Probably Chinese bones...  Who knows...

The company distributed the recalled dog food to retailers in 15 states: Washington, California, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The recalled dog food was manufactured the week of June 6-13, 2016.

Thanks, Dave, for the head's up. Looked like online sales were affected also, and the following details exact lots:

The affected lots numbers that start with 1816E03HB, 1816E04HB, 1816E06HB, 1816E07HB, and 1816E13HB, and have an expiration date of June 2020.
The second half of the barcode reads 20109, which can be found on the back of the product label.

Dave , most of the chew type bones are full of sodium and bad / harmful to dogs . I just put the best dog I ever had to sleep last week . Cattle dog cross , so smart .

Anyway good post , always know what you feed them .

Now how the hell did Phenobarb get into dogfood. Yea its a sedative  alright, like a medically induced coma type of sedative.

What I thought as well, Q[sup]3[/sup].  Not exactly like an ingredient commonly found in a dog food plant.  Either someone who purposefully planted it is a really sick twist, or a stoner on the production floor couldn't keep control of his or her stash.  Either way, it's pretty sad....
