What brand tea do you use and do you keep in the ice box for several days or make it fresh each day ? Sudden;y my ice tea has gone bad very quickly in the ice box and I wonder if I need to try a new kind . I use Luzzane Tea .. Thanks for any answers
I drink close to a gallon of green tea a day. There aren't a lot of choices in brands so I just buy whatever is available. I slice and boil a lemon for about 5 minutes then turn off the burner, add 14 green tea bags and let it sit for about 20 minutes and pour it in a gallon container. I sweeten slightly with stevia. It's really good stuff if you like tea. I was raised on tea when I was growing up. We didn't have kool aid. Green tea has a lot of good things goin for it so I figure why not make a habit of it since I'm gonna drink somethin.
Don't make tea much any more but when I did I did 4 gals at a time and it would keep for up to a week in the fridge. Always used the large Luzianne bags.
Friend of mine used to add a pinch of baking powder to her gallon jugs, swore it kept the tea from getting cloudy.
Another friends Grandma makes sweet tea base. She boils 7 cups of water, adds 5 of the big luzianne bags and continues to boil for 2 mins. She lets it steep for about an hour, removes the bags and stirs in 3 cups of sugar. She keeps this syrup in the fridge and mixes it with water to taste when someone wants a glass. The syrup keeps for about 10 days but is usually gone long before that. :)
Maybe I ain't drinking it as much as I did and it goes bad ... Before the ulcer I would drink four to six big glasses of ice tea each evening sitting around ...
I use 4 bags of walmart generic tea, and 2 bags of some kind of flavored tea, which I rotate. It gives a nice light flavor, the flavored teas are too strong for iced tea even touth they are good in hot tea.
I store it in the fridge for up to about 5 days max. It seldom lasts more than a day and a half as tea and coffee are my primary beverages, but sometimes it does.
Summer time I make it on the deck, put in the sun for about 6 hours, wintertime I use the coffeemaker by brewing 2 pots through.
