OK so I am currently on the road for work and have been avoiding the forums ( been missing my smoker ) But I Need BBQ. anyone know a good BBQ place near Edwards Air Force Base or know a good method for making some ribs with a picnic grill or oven ( its all I got ).  I am also on the craigslist  hunt for an ECB because ill be here for like 2 months and i should get the uses out of a cheep smoker.

If I were in your position I would make a mini WSM. It would get you through these hard times nicely.

Go to WalMart and pick up one of those $20 charcoal grills, the square one with the rounded corners. You can cook ribs and chicken indirect on it plus you can use it to grill burgers and steaks. I used to use one, surprisingly it held temps pretty consistently without much fussing with the vents. I set mine up with the coals in front near the air intake and the meat in the back over a drip pan but I have seen setups with the charcoal on one side and the meat on the other. The one I had was an eighteen inch model, if you get a twenty two inch you won't need to cut the ribs in half.

I was able to cook 2 racks at a time-
