Some mfg. factory's across the pond used to sell beer in the cafeteria.

I used to work at a US Defense Contractor. Folks got sent over to Germany to support NATO electronics build there. They had a fit seeing the workers allowed to drink beer on the job. Finally compromised that as long as the stein had a lid it was ok.
 
I had always heard Coors allowed beer drinking during work.
A quick web search says that at one time Budweiser, Miller, and Coors all permitted drinking during breaks. However this practice was stopped due to the fatality of a worker leaving a plant.

I used to work with a guy whose previous job was at Rainier Brewery in Seattle. He said it was expected that workers would grab a beer off the line at lunch. This was probably in the 60's or 70's.
