…it’s just so pricey.

26 bucks a pound for rib steak is steep, although it is “Prime” but still. These days I keep an eye out for Tri-tip and or Top sirloin or Sirloin cap, which is a Picanha. A little cheaper but very delicious, and I don’t even consider “Prime”

Yeah that's painful.
I noticed on the package it said "Blade Tenderized". Why would prime beef be blade tenderized? So from a food safety standpoint does that mean rare or medium rare is a no-no? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I saw a tritip today was $15 lb, was $45 for that piece of meat, not cheap any longer

I know Kevin, what you say is true. I’m just saying it’s hard to wean yourself off of beef, so I still search out any deal I can, and that includes yellow tags. Otherwise it’s pork and chicken but dang just need som beef once in a while and it is what it is price wise.

Between the prices and a cpl of turms in our lives, we are eating a lot of chicken, we'd do more pork but since my wife had her gall bladder removed a few yrs back, eating pork messes with her stomach.

Id tear up a ribeye and baked potato but not happening, so till we get through the couple thing beef is usually ground beef or good ole cube steaks w gravy and mashed taters.

BEEF PRICES ARE CRAZY HIGH! I HAVE A WHOLE IN-THE-BAG USDA CHOICE 22LB STANDING RIB ROAST IN MY FREEZER THAT I PAID $4.75LB FOR LAST XMAS, IT'S A TREASURE. I'M OFF SHORTLY TO MARKET TO GRAB A COUPLE SIRLOIN TIP ROASTS FOR $4.97LB, WHOLE CHICKEN AT 99¢ A POUND. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE XMAS SALES PRICES FOR BEEF ARE THIS YEAR, MIGHT BE TEN BUCKS A POUND, COULD BE MORE. BEEN GRINDING TRITIP INTO BURGER FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER.

Was in Sams two days ago, prime whole packer brisket at $6.50 , I've never seen it that high.

Prime ribeye was $30 , choice was $20.

It's crazy here too. Made a special trip to Publix on Sunday for chuck eye steak at 5.99 lb. Sold out and no rain checks.
I try to plan our weekend cooks based on the sales, coupons and markdown.

During the holiday season, my local grocer sells rib roasts for $7.99/lb. I ask the butcher to cut it into three two inch thick steaks. Yummy.

I GOT TO MY LOCAL MARKET RIGHT AFTER THEY OPENED AT SIX FOR THE ONE DAY SALE ON SIRLOIN TIP ROAST AT FIVE BUCKS A POUND. NONE IN STOCK, THEY GAVE ME A RAIN CHECK. NOW I CAN GO BACK TO MY LOCAL FAVORITE AND SCORE A COUPLE MORE AT THE SALE PRICE WHEN THEY COME IN! FOUND SOME TERIYAKI GLAZE TO TRY OUT chopsaw chopsaw RICH'S COOK ON A 99¢LB WHOLE YARDBIRD, SALE PRICE ON FRESH STRAWBERRYS TOO, BE MAKIN A PIE TODAY! TRITIP WAS $12.99LB, CRAZY.

No way! far too spendy for me. Last week non-prime NYs were 14.99 at my Costco. High, but not 22+

Nice snag Ray. Sirloin Tip comes from the front side of the leg, opposite of the rounds. It’s decent meat, same area the Tri-Tip comes from.

THANKS FOR THAT ERIC. I HAVE A COUPLE TRITIPS LEFT IN MY FREEZER. ASIDE FROM TRI'S THE ONLY STEAKS I'VE BOUGHT TO EAT FOR THE LAST THIRTY YEARS ARE T-BONES AND RIBEYES. I HAVE A CROCKPOT COOK BOOK WITH A FANTASIC RECIPE FOR MAKING BEEF BOURGUIGNON, THAT AND BEEF STEW ARE ALL I'LL USE THIS MEAT FOR.
