I have never used a smoker. I want to try it.

I was thinking of getting an electric one.  What brand?  I will be using it for just two of us most of the time so I want a smaller one.   Is it difficult to learn how to do it?  It sure sounds confusing I see meat covered in foil and some just in the smoker. I will do mostly chicken and meat. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Once I get one I will order Jeff's cookbook and I am sure that will help.

Welcome to the forums, Peggy!  Glad you've joined us.  You've found a great place to learn and share ideas on our favorite pastime...grilling and smoking great food!  There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable people here who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty!

Your question regarding electric smokers: there are several good, affordable brands on the market now that would make a fine starter smoker.  A very popular brand is Masterbuilt.  Many members here use them, so you'd always be able to get questions answered about them by someone.  Jeff's cookbook would certainly be a good buy...also, you should sign up to take his free 5-Day E Course, which covers a lot of smoking basics.

The confusing part is "what do I want to smoke today"!

It's really not hard and it's fun to experiment and find new things you like and new ways to do it!

I have a couple of Masterbuilt electrics that I have been happy with for the most part but am looking for something of a little better quality. For quite a while now I have been researching the Smokin-It electric and now just today I stumble upon a brand called Iron Chef Kitchen Smoker that is also electric and this one one now also has my attention. Just mentioning these to give you options to also look at.

I started out with an inexpensive Brinkman Electric.  Depends on how much money you want to spend.  Turned out some great stuff with my Brinkman.  Ask questions here and find out which one will better suit you and your family's needs.

Hello , Peggy. Welcome to our World

 . Don't let all the methods intimidate you , it's easier than you think. A few tips on your Smoker , a little practice and willing subjects to feed it to are about all you need to put out delicious Smoked foods.

Don't stop at Meat , try veggies , fruit , Cheese (In cooler weather) or anything your heart desires , I see some one even smoked some Butter.

Anytime you need help , we are here and willing to share. Just ask.

Also , go to your Profile and tell us where you are located , helps in helping you with the answer for you area.

Send lots of Q-view (have someone to be your Photojournalist (Kids , Husband ,Friend) and record from the Prep. to the Plate. We like to see BBQed stuff. Even if it looks rough , maybe we can help remedy that point.
