Wife has a box of stuff that comes every month that costs 125 bucks. Subscription auto out of our account. EVERY MONTH

My go to when getting the WTF for buying something , was to get all dejected looking .
When she asked what's the matter I would say . " I was gonna get 2 , but only got one because I thought of you "

Years ago I wanted a new shotgun . Figured I better say something . So she said ( after a pause )
I'll run up to the bank and get the money .
Got the gun , 2 days later I come home from work . Sit down at the table , and get hit with a blinding ray of light .
Took a second to realize it was coming from the new diamond ring on her finger .
That's OK . She worked everyday , and like you say never complained about what I bought .
Bills and kids always came first .

This is what we call "Winning in Life".

Some compromises were made (even if you didn't know it until you were "Blinded by the Light").

If it doesn't cause a burden for the family, it's all good!

For our 20 year anniversary I got my wife a pair of 2 ct diamond studs...I got a card. To be fair we never really ever gave anniversary gifts much before. She told me at dinner to go put the lift in the garage...so I did...the earrings still cost more...lol Ok count the toys on lift and it cost more than the earrings...lol
