I've got 2 tri-tips in the cooler. One of them is getting the pulled beef day at the spa treatment. Was thinking about doing it brisket style, but the pulled kinda wins.
At $3.99 / # I've got all kinds of sacrilege planned for tri-tip.
 
A chuck has basically zero trim.
After I trim out one of the tri-tips, i'll recalculate the price per pound. Not as bad as the roughly 40% loss in a brisket, but still enough to check it out.
 
Around here the average for a tri-tip is about$10.00/lb. Sometimes if I am lucky I can find it for $6.99/lb but never under that.
