I have family come down and they all want ribs but I am in more of a chicken or pulled pork kinda mood.  Heck I would prefer a chuckie or brisket also.  Desicions decisions just kinda getting tired of always cooking spares....

I would do some Chicken & PP. Then roll that into some Enchiladas, Taco's, Tamales, Torta's, PP Nachos, ETC< ETC. Heck how good would some ABTS be with all that! MAN IM HUNGRY!!

I'm making spares for the family (and extended family) also.  I don't mind making them; as I love them, but it's also a great opportunity to try something you haven't made before, or thought might be good but haven't seen yet.  I like to do an experiment along with the regular meal, that way, I figure I'm only out the ingredients, rather than the wood and charcoal, if it doesn't work out.  I usually enjoy eating the failures, too. ;)

Good Luck!

Terry that sounds really good.  I'm having the same problem... can't decide what to cook and I need to hurry up and figure it out!  Last head count was 50 guests.

Ecto1, Try doing some Cornish Game Hens. 1/2 per person(usually) and they take up a seasoned brine very well. Mostt everyone likes Chicken and these little guys are wonderful on the Smoker. Get them done and up the heat(or go to a grill) and crisp-up the skin.Taters and corn on the side and ......Yummo!

  Just suggesting!

Have fun at whatever you do , and remember...

Hate to go against the grain, but if they all want ribs why not give them ribs. How bout some fatties & abt's to go along with it. Maybe some beans & coleslaw.

Again I'm with Al. Giv 'em what they want.

Ribs are so easy and since they are one of the  foods you can cook by time, its much more relaxing to have ready for guests.

I would also do several beer can chix 90 minutes tops and any appetizer you can think of, wrap a few dogs in bacon and you're gold.

And don't forget Dutch's Beans, prep everything the night before and you will have an enjoyable gathering.

That's funny, I am opposite. I always make PP cause of the crowd but I am taking advantage of every single friend of mine being at the beach except the wife and I

so because I have been buying ribs every time they are on sale and throwing them in the freezer now I finally get to do a rib only smoke (I am sure I'll find something else to throw on there) but boy am I happy for the change up.

Im doing a gathering on Monday, so brisket and 2 butts on Sunday, then a bunch of chicken on Monday while the brisket and butts re-heat.
