been banging my head against the wall lookin or a likely replacement when my last MES30 breathes its last breath.
I refuse to feed hay to a dead horse, so will probably give the MES away with a nonworking duplicate for parts that never made it thru it's first cook.
Went to three local Lowes to see for myself the fit/finish of the PitBoss vertical pellet poopers.
two of the three had ill-fitting doors that didn't seem to want to be sealed. So, I've decided, when the time comes to pick Lowes "professional assembly". That way if it's not to my liking I refuse it and let Lowes diddle with Pit Boss customer service to replace the door ( if its doesn't seal.) I have spent numerous hours researching here and on the actual Pitboss user forum reading about shipping woes and the like.
it's just a matter of time, or an unlikely sale.. (Lowes link)

I'm gonna stick around to see what you think of their " professional assembly" ! :emoji_blush:

it isn't the assembly I'm worried about. I've read the manual and discussed it with a couple dudes on the Pit boss forum. My issue is, when I get the 150lb box off my truck into the garage, and start the package dis-assembly and see I have a bent door or a banged up cabinet it is my obligation to put back together the Chinese parts assembly puzzle, load it back in the truck and return to Lowes. If I order it assembled, I show up with my high powered flashlight to look for leaks and blemishes. I fit dosen't pass inspection, I don't sign for it. I did learn that they (Lowes) subcontracts assembly. I even marked the floor model inconspictuosly to make sure they don't try and pass the bent one off on me. (I have trust issues in this market).
If they F it up, I go to plan B.

This is the reason I bought my 1150 in the box so I could put it together. Seeing their floor models was enough to convince me.
FX you're probably not gonna find one that the door fits perfect. When I assembled mine I put it together with everything loose. Then moved it to a level surface and then tightened everything while aligning. Had one small spot on lid that leaked but by the time the PID learned (10+ cooks) it sealed itself enough that it didn't bother me.
Don't take this wrong but if you have real high expectations. I'd spend more money on a pellet cooker.

Actually, if my expectations were above nominal. I wouldn't even be considering a pellet pooper, much less a Pit Boss. Lord knows I've given a lot of grief to local friends and facebook deviants.

If I had it to do over again? I'd go gravity.
That 100 watt bulb oven was no joke. Cooked my first pot brownie/cake in one. LoL

Hmm... paid for at least two MES units and now possibly a PitBoss. That frustration and math sounds like it might have been better to have purchased a higher end smoker from the start.
