We catch them in the river with stick baits but never thought about keeping them to fry up. Gotta try it now and thanks for the idea!

They make a cloth bait like velcro, it hangs in the teeth.
 
Two hours on either side of the high tide this morning and this was it. The plug I was throwing was almost as big as the fish!

Yep. Years ago I used to see ones in the bait shop that looked like a 4-6" piece of frayed nylon ski rope. No hook. Never tried one cause be didn't think they were edible. Fun to catch though. They will definitely put a bend in your pole.
 
Some walleye fishing pics from yesterday on Mother Erie! Bite was phenomenal, had 30 keepers and probably 50 maybe 60 throw backs. Crazy hot and the bugs were torture, but we pushed through it and had a great time!
