OK I've got my UDS done aside of adding the bottle opener. I tried to season it using a heating element from a Brinks electric smoker my folks bought me aq number of years ago. It only got to 170 degrees & didn't get hot enough to bake the cooking oil on. I finished my fire basket this morning. So this will be a test run. How much charcoal should I put in for this ? Is a chimney full enough? When I do a long cook, should I put a good bit in the basket & just dump the lit coals in on top of that?
