Hi Everyone,

I am going to a guys weekend the end of the week.  The will be 10 55+ year old guys getting together without our wifes and kids to just hang out, eat, drink, smoke, cigars, and make believe we aren't all pushing 60.  I volunteered to bring BBQ with the fixin's for Friday night.  I was planning on pulled pork, sliced brisket, and cole slaw.

What size butt/shoulder and brisket would you suggest if I am making both?  I will bring buns/rolls in case people want sandwiches versus dinner plates.

What else can I bring besides the cole slaw?  Any easy way to prepare corn on the cob ahead of time that I can maybe just throw on the grill to reheat and carmelize?

What about sauces? how much?  Different Types?

Thanks,

David

General rule I think is 1 lb of pork raw per man. If you had kids and women in the mix, you could go 1/2 lb uncooked.
Regular cheap white soft buns are the way to go for pulled pork..
Maybe just have the corn precooked in a covered foil pan . Have another pan with just butter in it for dunking with tongs. Then you can finish them on a hot grill for a couple minutes get some color on um and move them back to that big pan to hold. Let people 're dunk their corn in more butter.. have salt there too.

Slaw is a classic side. Baked beans. I would say 3 buns per person.. [emoji]128526[/emoji]
Have fun! ..oh.. crock pot helps if you have one to keep hot stuff in..

Place the shucked corn in a large cooler and pour boiling water over them... enough to cover. Once you get there,  you will be able to grill and caramelize.

One Pound, Raw weight per man...Of Each. So, an average 8 to 10 pound Butt and a 10+/- pound Brisket will feed the boys nicely. That will give around one pound cooked meat per man. This might be too much for some, but that gives leftovers for late night sandwiches or to " Make Nice " with the Mrs. the next day...

Fresh Corn only needs to be Heated with no real cooking. Soak Husk On corn in water for 30 -60 minutes and place as-is over or even on hot coals. As the husks turn dark brown, turn. When uniformally browned, 10-15 minutes, serve. Just peel the husk back to make a handle, add Butter, and enjoy the smokey flavor. Literally no fuss...JJ

Thanks all.

I did a 6 lb brisket and a 8 lb bone in shoulder.  Came out great. Ended up with only about 7 lbs cooked total. Normally I get a better yield.  One guy dropped out so I have 7lbs cooked for 9-10.  I don't have time to do another of either but I could probably get a tray of chicken thighs done for pulling and make it a real smorgasbord.  I would be tough to squeeze it in but I could do it.

I never think any amount of food is enough but I am from an old Italian family that would make enough for at least triple the expected corwd.

So do I add more or is 3/4 cooked per enough?

Have some good sides, tater and mac salad. beans, etc including Pickles, Olives and such, you should be fine. Cheese and pepperoni would be good for a late snack...JJ
