I picked up a 7lb pork loin that I am planning on smoking at 250 but wondering how long it might take the internal temp to reach 160.

I don't know if this matters but I cut it into two pieces so it would fit in the smoker better.

Thanks.

Welcome to SMF. There are a lot of very friendly & knowledgeable folks here to help you. I urge you to sign up for the free E-course. It will give you the basics, & even if you are an experienced smoker you may learn something new. Then start asking questions. Good luck & glad to have you aboard. Don't forget we all love Qview! Now, if you would, go to the roll call section & introduce yourself, so we can give you a proper welcome. As for the loin your probably looking at somewhere around 3 to 5 hours, but this is just an estimate, go by temp. I usually pull mine out at 145-150, then foil & rest on the counter for 1 hour. It will still continue to cook in the foil. You may also want to wrap it in bacon to keep it moist. Here's a link to a stuffed loin I did a while back. I left this one in a little longer because it was stuffed & bacon wrapped.

Al gave you some good advice. Make sure you go by temp and not by time. Hopefully you have a sescent thermometer you can put in your loin. Make sure you boil it and check it for accuracy. It should read around 212 degrees when placed in boiling water.
