How do you get the skin crispy on a whole smoked chicken?

At what temp did you smoke it? You can go 300* with chicken and that helps the skin. Though I haven't tried it I heard that rubbing it with EVOO will help. Also you can pull it from the smoker a little early and finish in a 400*-450* oven to help crisp it up.

I pull mine at 155 to 160 and finish on the grill to crisp the skin

What smoker are you using, electric, gas, or wood

Works great!

Higher temps.  If your smoking it, probably not gonna get it crispy without adding one of the above mentioned steps.  However, I totally prefer the taste of smoked chicken (2 hours at 250 in a butter bath) over chicken cooked hot and fast (typically at 350 or above for an hour or less), although I'm not a skin eater.

I pity the fool who watched this whole video, I stopped at the door busting scene!  LOL
