Like I really need another warranty but a post in Nextdoor got me thinking about it? I have an early 60's house. Looks like warranty's run around $50 a month and cover appliances, electrical and plumbing. I have seen several houses around me getting their sewer pipes replaced. Anyone carry these?

Not a home warranty fan. One of our houses came with one for one year. The couple times we had them out to fix something, they did the cheapest most half a**ed job and were reluctant to replace anything regardless of the state of repair. The repair people were very subpar.

Example 1, they "fix" a garage door opener. About a year later the drive rod that held the chain gear sheered off. I had a garage door repair guy out and asked him why it broke again. He said they did the absolute minimum to get the opener to work, but really didnt fix it. Just kicked the can down the road.

Much prefer to select professionals myself, worth the money. Save the monthly fee amount in a savings account for when you need a repair. Just my $0.02 on that.

Home warranties are a scam imo. Had one with a house we bought. The company was horrible to deal with and tried to "fix" a 30 yr old AC unit rather than replace. I couldn't even find a company willing to repair it. Ended up paying for most of it myself.

Well it sounds like about what I expected. It had worked out for the guy on Nextdoor I had seen but I sure that probably the exception.
