Friend gave me a bunch of tomatoes from his garden and Sheila had a plan. Sliced tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil from one of her plants. I reduced some balsamic vinegar to make a glaze for it...

These were Brandywine, Cherokee Purple, and Beefsteak tomatoes. A really good summertime dish that's so easy to make. I suggested some of my bacon fried up and crumbled on top, but she said maybe next time...😄

Tomatoes already? Nice!
BrandyWine is my favorite. We are growing those and beefsteak. Some sweet 100 cherry too. And some Italian paste tomatoes!

BrandyWine is my favorite.
Mine too. My friend planted 80 plants with a bunch of varieties including various cherry tomatoes and he gives most of them away. I have grown fond of his Chocolate Cherry tomatoes, too...

Beautiful Charles!! My basil is ready to roll but tomatoes are a month or more off. Love a good Caprese salad. I used to do about 40 tomato plants a year all different heirloom varieties. Cherokee purple is an all time fav. Brandywine is tasty but for some reason I always got really low yields on them.

Amazing plate.
Sometimes best to listen to the better half on the menu.
Charles, you found the best way to fresh tomatoes. Have someone else grow them.
I've tried dozens of varieties of tomatoes over the years. Always back to the basic duo of Roma and grape.

Looks tasty and I have a few green ones on some plants but it'll be a month before I get any ripe ones. I'll keep this in mind because I don't know if I'll have enough to can and you can only eat so many BLT's....

I just have a husky cherry and grape tomatoes this year. Both are loaded and a few are ripening each day.

Looks tasty Charles! Have some for me... be awhile for our maters.

I stop growing veggie's a few years ago, mainly because the produce stands and farmer's markets around here sell amazing veggie's.
And the garden was killing my back, no more tilling, weeding, or pest control for me, and with what I was spending on the garden never really made sense to me.

Charles, that looks kill'er!!!

Caprese salads are very common in our house this time of yr.
For sure pick up some excellent evoo and drizzle with the balsam glaze, fresh cracked blk pepper, and chunky sea salt. Also if you bruise the basil the flavors really explode.
Just place the leaf in your hands and gently roll your hands together, or after you wash the whole bunch, smack it on the counter a few times to shake the water off, and it will bruise the leaf then as well.
If there are leftovers it makes a great sandwich on a crusty roll. YUM!!!!
I need to stock up on some fresh Tom's, I have everything else at the house already.

Thanks for the incentive.

Dan.
