I can't see any reason why not isn't hickory just hickory. it's all good under the hood.
 
I am not sure but it all should be good to go. I was off from work for three months and scored two pickup loads of seasoned hickory. Put the hurt on two chainsaw chains cutting it up. That stuff is hard as a ....well you know.
