^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^That's just about exactly what I said to myself about a week ago.

Hello everyone,

I'm Steve in Silver City, NM.  Silver City is a little town in the foothills of the Gila Wilderness.  Billy the Kid grew up in this little town.  I'm about 30 miles east of AZ and 70 miles north of Mexico.  The elevation is 6200 feet and the weather is great.

I've been grilling with charcoal and gas for over a half a century (!) and one day about a week ago, for some unrecalled reason I decided to try smoking.  I have a Weber smoker that has just moved to the back patio and I've been rounding up the tools to go with it.  I ordered a bunch of spices online and yesterday I bought a chuck roast.  My first try at smoking will be the roast tomorrow and I'll try some potatoes with it.  One of the "tools" I got was a Maverick remote thermometer and that will be part of my "maiden voyage".  I'm looking forward to it...I've gotta hurry because it's gonna snow the day after tomorrow.  <G>

I'll let you know how it turns out.
