I have a 1 1/2 year old Masterbuilt propane thermotemp that will not stay lit.

It also goes way above temp sometimes before the flame just cuts out and doesn't come back on. I have had some luck leaving the bottom door cracked but it still goes out at some point.

Any ideas? I am thinking about just bypassing the thermostat and using a needle valve to control temps.

Thanks

Have you checked and cleaned the burner tube? Bugs love to nest in the tubes.

I have not. I plan to give it good cleaning today as well as install a needle valve style regulator.

So I have tried to blow everything out with no luck. Has anyone ever taken these things apart? I'm a little cautious as I'm not sure what all is inside of it.
