Hello friends. I'll be smoking my first Brisket this weekend on my smoke hollow LP smoker. I've been doing some reading, but I would like to know what to do.
What temp should I smoke it at? How much smoke, or how long to smoke for?

I've read to wrap in foil when the internal temp gets to 170f, then continue to cook until 190f. Is this right?

Basically, I'm hoping for a step by step breakdown on how to smoke a brisket.

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. I read that post and it's definitely one I'll refer to.
But what temperature do you set your smoker to?

You can smoke a brisket anywhere from 225-325. Some do them hot & fast, and some do them low & slow. Personally I smoke them at 270, and don’t wrap them.

I cooked a select (lower grade) brisket point end recently and used 350 for 3 hours and then 300 for three hours with the last three wrapped in foil plus apple cider vinegar/apple cider mix added to the foil.
At the six hour mark it shook like a bowl of jello so I let it rest an hour and sliced it up.
Perhaps the best brisket ever.
I used to follow low and slow but the slow part took too long and seemed to dry out the meat more.

As I say a lot it all comes down to trial and error to find which way suits you best and many give their personal preference as how to do it. Although they all seem to work make your choice. I never wrap anything.

Same!

But find what you like. try it low and slow, hot and fast, wrapped or unwrapped, inject or not etc etc. there is a lot of personal preference in the cook profile for a brisket.

Thank you all for the replies. I'm going to try one this weekend and now I feel a lot better about everything. I'll let you know how it comes out!

One other thing to consider is that even the season smoker doesn't always get it right. We all still have an occasion where it just didn't go right.
