I picked up my new 1hp grinder from Cabelas on friday. Man that thing is a beast! My question is....reading throught the assembly instructions the book refers to an "auger bearing" I can't find anything that looks like an actual bearing in the box. Is it just the nylon thing at the head where the auger rides? or am I missing an actual bearing. I tried to get that nylon piece out but it wouldn't come out. I am confused??? Any grinder owners out there that could help me out?

I don't have the exact same model you have, but there is definitely no bearing that you can get to without tearing the whole grinder apart.  They have to be talking about the tooth gear that the auger slides into.  On my grinder, you just push in the auger, then the knife, then the plate, then spin on the locking ring, and that is it.  Hopefully somebody with the same model you have will chime in and shed some light on the subject.

I believe your correct that its the nylon washers thingie. Thats what I have on mine.

I think it is the nylon insert at the back end of the head, where the auger rides (opposite of the plates and blades) But maybe someone out there can tell me different.

 I believe you are correct.

I personaly don't own one (YET) but being around machines my entire adult life I can tell you that bearings come in all types of configurations and can be made from all types of material.
