Merritt Island, FL
Just joined and wanted to say hi to all and thanks for all the good info.  My wife and I live in Merritt Island, FL, a stone's throw from Cape Canaveral, typically referred to as the Space Coast as home to NASA but should be called the "redfish coast" with mosquito lagoon in our backyard.  I've loved grilling all my life but just recently bought a MES 30".  I found SMF while searching for comparisons of bradley and masterbuilt smokers and glad I did!  I read a ton of useful tips in just a few hours on hear which I put to use on Super Bowl Sunday making my first batch of baby backs (used the 2-2-1 and also made sure I waited for the initial heavy smoke to die down before getting the ribs going).  Thanks again for all the useful tips and I look forward to sharing some Qview with all real soon.  Tight lines and smokey goodness to all.

Flash:

I actually live on Sykes Creek in Sykes Cove.  Kind of a pain getting out of the barge canal with the minimum wake but I;m not going to complain about living on the water and being able to hop in my boat and go fishing at the drop of a hat.  Anyway, making my first pork butt this weekend and make sure to post pics.

Cool, I am a mod also on the Florida Sportsman forum. Might want to check that one out also if you fish alot.

Welcome! Grew up on Merritt Island. My parents still live there. Banana River is their front yard. Done too many trips down Barge Canal as a kid for a summer job. But as you said, who can complain when you just hop in a boat and you are in an amazing place.....

I commuted from Seattle to Jax for a few years, got down fishing out of Port Canaveral every chance I could while down in FL. Love Merritt Island and all of the redfish, sheepshead, drum, etc that we pulled out of there, awesome fishing.
