I've been smoking meat for a couple of decades. I need a new smoker as I burned out my manifold on my 'Smokey Mountain' series smoker. I'd like another one, but I hear they are not in business anymore. I like the compactness and lighter weight compared to the pellet smokers. I have plenty of fruit wood growing, so I don't need to buy pellets, and I like the propane models so I don't need to constantly hover over it all day to modulate the temperature. Any Ideas?

Even though they may not be in business, many BBQ parts are used across multiple brands.

If you want a new propane rig:

I agree with the Smoke Vault 24.

It may require some modifications if it's in an exposed location with variable wind conditions. For better temperature control it will require a needle point valve.

I have stabilized mine with the mod's and am very happy with how it's currently performing.

I have not done a 12 hour smoke yet, but the propane option gives good temperature control over long periods. I monitor with temperature probes inside the chamber and allow for a 20-30 degree swing.

If you want more detail on the modifications and whats involved PM me.
