Just got a MES 30' smoker for my birthday...Been doing my research on the forum and can't wait to start smoking!  Thanks for all the information!

Also, if anyone can point me in the right direction of a good 1st time recipe that would be appreciated.

THANKS!

I would go with chicken for your first smoke. It is very forgiving, chaep and tasty.

It also helps add seasoning

Happy smoken.

Yep chicken or even a pork butt, they are very easy but can be time consuming, but good things come to those who wait!

Welcome aboard!  You've found a great place for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask and someone here will have the answer.

Welcome. You'll love this forum. I just started smoking last fall and had limited success until I found this forum. I have learned so much from the kind members. They are generous with answers to your questions and there are a ton of great ideas in the postings. One of the ways I learned the most was posting my projects with pictures and I always got support, advice and suggestions for differing ways to do things.

I am sure you will love this forum as much as I do.

As for a first time recipe, Ribs done the 3-2-1 method or a pulled pork butt would be a good choice. Just put 3-2-1 ribs or pulled pork in the search bar and there will be lots of recipes and discussions on methods.
