NE O-H... I-O
Hi Smokemasters,

I've been lurking on this forum for the last week as I've been scanning the internet for advice, reviews, etc. on buying my first smoker after my brother-in-law turned me onto it.  He's put out some great meals with his and I couldn't resist - being a long time grillin' fool.

Yesterday I drove over and met the owner of Smokin-It grills (in the Akron, OH area), Steve, who let me save a little by picking up a leftover first version of his model #3 that was unboxed and never used for anything but advertising photography (only difference being it has 1 latch vs 2 now).  It seems to be rock solid and looks/feels like a legit piece of professional kitchen equipment.  I could have gone cheaper  (and probably smaller after I saw the internal capacity) but I wanted to just buy once because I know I'm going to love smoking for a long time.

I've already begun the initial seasoning of the smoker as Steve and many others online strongly suggest doing, and I'm looking forward to spending more time on this forum and sponging ideas from the community!

Thank you all in advance for sharing the knowledge,

Patrick "Buckeye" Brown

Thank you - I actually drove about an hour over to Akron (Fairlawn) to pick it up.  I live in Columbiana, OH, a little south of Youngstown.

This is the Model #3 which is nice and deep which I should be able to put ribs in on the shelves without cutting them down.  I don't know if linking to other websites is a no-no on this forum or not so I'll just tell you that you could Google Smokin-It for more info on the current models.  They also sell the two smaller versions Model #1 and #2 on Amazon.  This one came with a full length wood box and 4 stainless steel racks.  It is full stainless steel and seemed like a great price against other similarly spec'd boxes.
