Hello From East Tennessee

  1. New to the forum and to smoking.

Was given a smoker that my father-in-law picked up at a yard sale. Tried some burgers, steak, and chicken already. But I m looking forward to deer jerky. Deer season just opened and I'm ready for some jerky.

I am sure I will be asking some questions soon. Right now I am reading up on past post to get a better idea of what I am doing.

Welcome to the SMF. It would help us if you know the brand and size and type of your Smoker or Smokers. Put that kind of info in your profile which I see you have already filled out. Good for you. There are scads of people on here who love nothing better than to answer questions and help out in any way they can.

Remember we love Qview ( pictures ) expecially of a persons first smoker and or their first smokes.

Here are a few links that apply to Newbies on SMF that may help you get started.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you're gonna be in for some tasy treats in the very near future.

There are tons of avid hunters here, so they'll get you fixed up with some fine jerky seasoning blends and methods if you need.

Good luck on the hunt, and please, do be safe and have fun.

    Enjoy the forum!

Your smoker is real close to this one of mine...
Just to share a couple MODS I made that I'm happy with:

PUT FAT TIRES ON THE BACK, moved the stock ones to the front

Took the wooden handles off (they were too close to the smoker, kept burning my knuckles) attached them to the shelf for utensil hangers, and make long metal handles to replace them

Put in new grates and tuning plates for heat distribution...

Just to give you a few ideas maybe [IMG]

Welcome to SMF. As you can see, some of your fellow alumini are already introducing and making themselves available for any question you might have.
To quote an old saying, There is no such thing as a dumb question, unless it was asked by me.....hmmm that just didn't come out right.
Congrats on becoming addicted to this site.
