Hello all.

I'm John and I live in the Phoenix area. Always enjoyed cooking, grilling & BBQ. Currently looking into a dedicated smoker which led me here. I smoke currently (and poorly) on a Weber Performer using the snake method and my results aren't the best.

This place has been invaluable so far and I look forward to learning more.

What kind of smoker are you looking at? If you enjoy the charcoal in your weber you could upgrade to the Weber Smokey Mountain, I love mine and many here have them. I also have a Camp Chef Woodwind pellet smoker and I love the set it and forget it, even thought the WSM is almost set it and forget it, sometimes its nice not messing with charcoal.

Honestly, what brought me here was looking at an electric smoker. I do enjoy using the Weber & charcoal, but the attention it requires really keeps me from using it as often as I'd like. Hence the draw to the electric smoker. I had considered a pellet grill/smoker, but the price point of the electric is appealing and I can verify that I enjoy the hobby with 1/3 the investment.

Welcome to SMF!
Plenty of guys on here with electric smokers.
I would post your questions in the electric smoker section.
Start a new thread & ask what electric smoker they recommend!
