Hey all- I've been lurking in the background for a while now and it's been fun. I've learned a lot but I need some help/advice/direction!

I've been smoking on a propane Masterbuilt vertical smoker and love the results I've had. Sure there have been some duds but nothing that didn't taste at least not too bad! So I wanted to get into charcoal smoking. I didn't want to drop 300-400 on a WSM just yet so I settled for a Cuisinart 18inch vertical charcoal smoker.

I guess I should know that I get what I pay for but the door handle is a pain in the a**. The latching system comes loose easily and the door just falls off. In other words the handle on the outside doesn't let the latch 'catch' on the inside of the smoker.

Before jumping to the LavaLock latches and drilling into the smoker I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I suppose I could live with tightening it every few times I open the smoker but that just seems unnecessary.

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to SMF.

I can't help with the door and latch issue either.
Any chance of returning it and getting your money back?

Welcome to the site happy to have ya join up. Like those who answered before me. Sorry I can't help. I'm not familiar with your smoker. Maybe if you posted a picture we can help.
