Hi All,

Just throwing this question out there.  Has anyone built a smoker, for hot smoking, out of Old cooler/freezer panels?   I have another thread for a block smoker build and my wife told me that there are some used cooler panels on her mother's property.  I did a little digging online to see what cooler panels were rated for (temp. wise).  For new panels, seemed that the maximum threshold was about 200 Degrees.  I could see these working for an electric smoker-  but not sure if they could handle having a fire built inside of it to start up- or the hot coals.  Any thoughts?

Morning.....  If they are foam filled, I think that would be asking for problems.... You could line them with 3/4" plywood, with an air gap, and might get away with it...  but then I'm not sure about that either.... Sooner or later, the temp will penetrate to the foam......  Dave
