Took one tenderloin plus fixins to Dad and Mom's this evening and he made one of his specialty dishes that topped this meal over the edge. Hot water cornbread.
do understand and didn't mean to laugh at anyones misfortune of the luxuries i have. most people don't realize there are alot of folks here in this so called great united states too that don't have either also. yes dad is like the blind master in the Kung Fu show at cooking. and i am still a grasshopper Hehehehehe! i have never left the states except once to Canada Niagra Falls. hey you not leaving there for 13 yrs must say something right?
I often think how much it would benifit some if they had to live without the luxurys they so take for granted.your Memorial Day dinner looks great.and yes that cornbread is some good stuff.thanks for shareing.
MossyMo Time to educate you all on Hot Water Cornbread then i guess Hehehehehe! let's get the threads a posting because it is a major staple of smoked meats in my book! Hehehehe!
Desertlites, thank you very much for the comments. so you know something bout Hot Water Cornbread do yah???
funny thing is all the searches you will do on recipes for hot water cornbread are all different. no eggs needed no flour needed etc. it's one of them things you make from trial n error from way back handed down recipes. some people patty theirs and some people just add hot water from the faucet and then when it gets added to the hot oil breaks all apart when it hits the hot oil because the hot water and corn meal mix wasnt made to the right consistancy. all you need is corn meal and a little sugar and hot water and squeeze butter once they first come out of the frying pan with a drizzle of salt too.
here is the best recipe online i have found but don't use your hands or patty them. if the consistancy is right you take a tablespoon and curl up enough in the spoon and drop that into the hot oil until golden brown.
