Good morning Friends!

Since the rack of BB ribs from a few days ago went well, I wanted the second cook on the new grill to be hot and fast searing. So we did burgers for dinner last night. Nothing earth-shattering here - just showing off the range of the new Hasty Bake.

I started with a pound of 80/20 ground beef, formed into 1/3 lb. patties, and seasoned simply, with an all purpose SPOG rub, and a little extra fresh-cracked black pepper.

I started with less than half a basket of briquette charcoal...and cranked the coal basket all the up to just about 3 inches below the cooking grates, then waited until it was screaming hot. The Tel-Tru in the hood read 400 when the burgers went on. The temp at grate level must have been over 500.

Sizzling away directly over the coals. About 3 minutes, then flip.

After the flip, 3 more minutes, then moved the patties to the cool zone until the IT was 155...then topped with some cheddar slices...while some sesame seed brioche buns toasted over the coal.

My burger - with yellow mustard, dill pickle slices, a slice of tomato fresh from our garden, and a slice of yellow onion.

A fast, easy meal, but delicious! And the Hasty Bake is certainly a searing machine!

Thanks for looking !

Nice work. Nothing beats a grill burger. Particularly when the buns are toasted on the grill where the meat was grilling. Extra flavor.

Perfect! Did a similar set up last night for some fajitas.

Thanks W! Yum! Fajitas on the grill are the bomb!

Thanks Ryan! We've had a bumper crop of tomatoes. Been eating so many tomatoes the last few weeks, I'm getting acid sores in my mouth lol!

Great looking burger!

Thank you Brian!

Thanks Jim! Yep definitely! It'd be a shame to waste that extra flavor!

Nice simple cook for sure. I’m starting to like this unit you bought. However, I’m curious about how it will do holding temps at or around 240-250 for long smokes…..say a brisket?

Banjo man out.

I don't have direct experience with this yet, but I watched Harry Soo smoke a brisket in his Hasty Bake Legacy using the snake method, and with the heat deflector in place over the fire. He kept it running at about 275 for the entire cook...the brisket turned out great!

Here's the link to that video if you're interested:

Burger perfection!

Thanks David!

Can you snuff out the fire and salvage any charcoal?

Thanks Keith! Yeah I have enjoyed most of the YT videos that feature Hasty Bake grills too.

Yep! Close up all the vents, and lower the coal basket all the way down to the ash pan, and it snuffs out the fire in practically minutes.
