I thinking about picking this up to use on the river for us to use? Would want to keep in in truck. Guess would fit with cover on. Probably get a vortex also for it. Grill

Edit: I did not realize it is 27" wide. Not going to fit. They have an 18" for $24. Wish they had a 22" which is what though the one I was looking was.

Hey Brian, Did you consider the Weber jumbo joe? I have the 18". Great grill. The 22" is only 10.00 more.

After thinking about it I have an old 22" weber kettle that I have a pizza attachment set up on that I never use anymore. Just dont make pizza anymore. This would be a better use for it. My flight is 5 am tomorrow to Fl. Man I always get nervous before a trip. Not the flight so much just getting to airport on time and being away from home. Once I get there nerves will settle down.

AS Steve I love my Jumbo Joes (yep have 2 of them).

I'm thinking one of those folding square Americana grills may be for you.

Safe travels. You're coming in to beautiful weather.

Well I looked at some of those square grills that fold but not really impressed. I went ahead and ordered a new SS grate for old kettle, Votex, Charcoal chimney and fire starters. Will put together a tool kit. Think going to try that ball of foil for cleaning grates. Going to show those boys and girls my vortex ribs. Thinking stuffed peppers should work with vortex also. I will keep everything in truck for anyone who wants to use. This should be fun!

Well I guess I should of spent more time measuring. A bit to big to be able to close topper. I could take the legs off every time but that would get old. I bought the medium vortex, 12". Do you think that would work with that 18" Jumbo Joe?

I'm not sure. I've never tried it.

I love my kettle but the couple times I've put it in the back of truck have been a hassle.

If it's staying in the truck for the river , any reason not to make shorter legs ?
Thought about that but wasn't sure if would be unstable? Not sure if would still work with the wheels also. Got ABT's and Stuffed dates planned for Sunday.

Take the factory legs off . Get the correct size thin wall conduit . Cut them the same length and attach them however needed . Could do without the wheels I would think .

Probably 1/2" EMT.

Just take the legs off the kettle and trim an inch or so off each one. Stability shouldn't be an issue and if you take it off the top of the legs you can keep your wheels and that triangular leg support.

I did these out of some aluminum pipe I had laying around . 1 " O.D.
EMT would be stronger than thin wall .
This guy did this and says fits under his cover. Not sure he cut the bottom wire yet but should be able to figure it out.
