Hi everyone!

After years of talking about it, my wife and I finally broke down and bought our first smoker, a 40" Masterbuilt electric. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any instructions or recipes so now I just need to figure out how to use it

This site seemed like a very good place to start, so here I am, with high hopes of learning some good tips and eventually turning out some delicious meals.

I'm starting from square one, so I have alot of reading and catching up to do. Thanks in advance for any good advice!

Doug welcome to SMF glad you joined us. Congrats on the new MES you'll be turning out some great Q with it very quickly. Have fun and happy smoking

Thanks for the welcomes! Really happy that I found this site. Seems like a ton of good info and recipes. I signed up for the free e-course, so hopefully that will cover the basic stuff for getting started.

We got impatient and tried the smoker out last weekend.. not having a clue we cooked some ribs and chicken (luckilly on sale). It turned out etible, but just barely lol. I already learned several mistakes we made... so THAT'S what the water bowl is for! (oh yes I did)

So much to learn, so much to try.. I'm sure we'll be experimenting again this weekend

Yeah, I definitely can't complain about the beach. It's gorgeous! Can't wait to take the waverunners out again. Gotta make it through hunting season first though..

Chicken is always good! Brats are to die for...less than a 2 hour smoke. Once you do them....will never grill them again! My 2 cents! Good luck

Any secret or favorite recipes you wish to share?? What type wood do you use? I haven't had a really GOOD brat since I was stationed in Germany. Might have been the beer though..
