Utter newbie here, motivated to do some slow and low by my son's elaborate Primo set up and the incredible food from it.

I have a tiny budget for a smoker/cooker and need advice and input on how to proceed with the $ constraint.

Had a Brinkman once years ago. Much less expensive than the WSM, but I don't know how much better the WSM might be.

Any help you can offer this poor old man would be appreciated.

You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-course it will teach you all the basics and a whole lot more!

The WSM is much much better than the Brinkman but the Brinkman will work. Let us know a little more about your budget and what type of smoker you are thinking of...charcoal, gas, electric......and we should better be able to point you to just what will work for you!

Sorry, I am in Oscoda, MI

Budget likely $150 or less and charcoal is my pref.

Thanks for the welcome.
