Hi everyone. I've been wanted to learn to smoke meat and other foods for many years now. Came across SMF a few days ago. Tons of information here!

I'm originally from MA, but I'm been in the Atlanta area for 14 years now. I'm a newbie to smoking, but I've been experimenting with fermentation for several years. Can't wait to purchase my first smoker!

After reading some threads, I've decided to purchase a MES40 with a plan to add an AMNPS. I'll likely follow one of the mailbox mods as well. My biggest question is about the different MES versions for sale. I've read that the newer MES models have some quality/reliability issues. Curious if there are any recommendations for someone like me.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I can't speak for the MES because I don't have one. But plenty of people on here do, and have been using them for years so I'm sure one of them will be able to help you out.

I can, however, highly recommend the AMNPS. I got one last for my propane smoker last year and I definitely won't be going back to wood chips. The AMNPS allows for a lot more control over your smoke.

Have fun with it. And don't hesitate to ask questions. People on here love to help
