Hey all,
Recently received a B'day gift of a Kingsford Sierra Smoker from the GF and found this site while looking for smoking tips for its break-in smoke of a 11 pound Boston Butt. Loved all the great info, recipes, and apparent helpfulness of the site's members so I decided to join.
Butt turned out great after lots of babysitting (and good ideas found on the site), but there are definitely mods in my future. So any links you guys could send my way for Horizontal Smokers with an FSB would be great. Definitely need a larger charcoal box (or some easy way to remove ash buildup), and some way to stop excessive heat loss.
My other interests are wood-working, airplane building, flying, cooking, and sausage/cheese/beer/wine making (feel like a Playboy Bunny now).
I have some experience with smoking on a VERY old Brinkman Vertical way-back-when with my dad, but am now trying to learn all the details on my own. So, I'm basically a noob.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys and learning from your experience.
Thanks,
Chris
