I have searched the forums and see a few people using silver buttonwood. I have an abundant supply of green buttowood and heard it can be used for smoking. Does anyone have experience using it for pork, beef, etc?

Back in the 70s, when I lived in Florida, it was used for fish and pork. It is supposed to be scarce now. I'd do a test run on a small amount of pork/fish, and see if it is to your liking.
That is my plan, probably do a pork butt this weekend. Its crazy what wood costs here and there are literally piles of cut buttonwood in everyones backyard. It mostly gets used in fire pits.
