Kids graduating HS on Sunday. The units came into town for the occasion. Had to decide between smoking a turkey or a prime rib. The wife decided on turkey. Had some baked beans, mac n cheese and salad for sides. All turned out fantastic. Moist and tender and legs had bite through skin. Cooked a 12 lb bird and a boneless breast. Put the boneless breast on about an hour and half after the whole bird. Brined them both for two days. Used my house kickass rub. I usually inject too but didnt have any chix broth. Like it both ways so all is good.

Proud of the kids, both had 4.0 or greater. Daughter ended up being salutatorian. Son is dating the valedictorian. Headed to college this fall and will be empty nesters. Going to have to learn how to smoke for two.

Bird on at 250 for some smoke

Nice cook, and congrats to the kids! Loose any buttons yet?

I'm still adjusting to smoking for 1. Not making as many trips to the restaurant supply store anymore.

Good cook.
Congrats to the kids. Remind them that the next years is a new chapter in their book of life.
Neither of my kids have looked backed to HS after growing up.
