So I bought a beer can chicken stand primarily to use for turkey breasts, since they don't seem to want to stand on their own. Thought I'd use it for a chicken as intended. Brined the bird the night before. As I was just about finished rubbing, I realized I didn't rinse the brine. Too late now. Got it ready to go into the Pit Boss and oops, too tall my my little smoker. So I took a grate out and put it directly on the heat shield. Worked out fine. Looking forward to using it for a turkey breast soon.

Dont waste beer on that cook. I measured how much water I put in the can and how much was left when the cook was done.

200mi in and 200 ml out.

If any did evaporate to add moisture, it was unmeasureable IMO.

BUT that chicken is the best way to cook chicken. Just so crispy :emoji_ok_hand:

I didn't use beer (well, for the chicken, the cook on the other hand...). Had a soda can, filled it half way with apple juice and shook some rub in it.

I think there can be a good debate if beer can chicken really does anything different but I like to try it just to change things up every once in a while. To me the most important part of the cook was/is brining. But like you said, if anything it makes it sit better during the cook

Love that picture, bird just hangin' out.

Funny you would say that, as my first brined and smoked bird , had lots of folks here talking about it , and all in fun also.

@indaswamp , @Brokenhandle @gmc2003 and Our departed friend @Bearcarver
got in some good jabs.

I have done quite a few sence then.

All looks Great, David!!
I love Mona's plate.

BTW: Your pic below looks like the chicken had to use the outhouse.
And somebody jerked the door open while she was sitting in there. EEeeekk!!!

Ha Ha Thanks Bear for the likes and the comment

It does look like that , lol

First time I have used the chicken stand , and I am fielding a few jokes from it , the chicken dance , or the Hokie Pokie
From Keith indaswamp ,and Ryan Brokenhandle
And now the outhouse run. Ha Ha
You would think it should be a pretty lean bird with all the dancing and toilet runs...lol

It was a great tasting and juicy bird for sure
And nice colour from the Paprika, brown sugar rub and the Cherry wood...Yes this is a dig at another post.

Thanks everyone for keeping things on the lighter side , we all need to laugh more

David

That was Bears post.

I've been a fan of beer can chicken for years . Have also heard for years it's a waste of time .
If people think it's a waste , then they should do something else in my opinion .

People like to spatch whole birds , but it's not my thing . I like to cook whole or split halves .
Point is do what you like . I love the trying it to switch things up .
When you do this stuff you should be able to cook it more ways than one .
I like to try it just to change things up every once in a while
Here's your next method ,
Split halves on the spinner .
