I have the 40in blue tooth gen 2 smoker and the temp reads 275 but my maverick 732 thermometer reads 117 so I was wondering how can I tell which one is correct? I purchased the smoker and the maverick temp a little over a month ago so and this is my 3rd time in using my smoker. and before they were only about 10-15 degrees off from each other when I used them the last 2 times. also I can not get the blue tooth app to work correctly where you can make the adjustments for the temp and alerts. just shows the temps and that's it.

The Bluetooth is a Gen #2.5, not a Gen #2.

Your 732 is normally the one that's right, but you can check that by sticking the 732 probe in boiling water. If you're at a low altitude it should read near 212°.

I can't help you with the Bluetooth----Mine is Bluetooth, but I don't have anything to use it with, so I use the controls on the top front of the smoker.

when I finish my smoking ill check out the maverick with the boiling water to see how the temp is.

275° to 117° is a really big difference.

You might have a bad probe on your 732.

You can also check that by switching probes from the left side hole to the right & vice-versa.

Let us know what you find out.

I turned it off and back on and then it was reading 258 on the maverick and was like that for the rest of the smoke. but I'm still going to do the boiling water test to check it.

I love the idea of the Bluetooth on the MES 40 but the range is maybe 10 FT - if I'm lucky.  The range of Bluetooth on my Toyota Tundra is 100 FT+. I can start it in the winter, walk back inside and my phone is paired up with it.

I also find with the app I have to Force Stop it from time to time to make heat adjustments, set timers, view the meat probe temp, etc.  It's a pain - but seems common with the reviews I've read on Amazon and other places.  Their app could use some help.
