Getting a yellow flame not blue on my Masterbuilt smoker. Does not appear to have a shutter to adjust the oxygen mix. Has anyone else had this problem and what was your solution. Has anyone retro fitted a 3rd party burner to the Masterbuilt

Could be useful to disconnect the gas hose and blow out the assembly with a can of air or something. The burner assembly might be clogged. That was my issue whenever I had an orange flame. Good luck!

JCAP JCAP I think has you covered. Try that first. The pressure nozzles on some propane tanks are sometimes kinda funky also. Take hose off completely and reattach. Open tank "slowly"

Which Masterbuilt do you have? Photos will help us try to decipher the problem .

Sorry for not getting back to your prompt reply; family got in the way
I have attached 5 photos
First is the junction of the gas nozzle and burner stem; as can be seen there is no adjustable shutter to control the mix.
Second is of the smoker a Masterbuilt XL
Third is the new adjustable gas regulator
Fourth is of the flame tank is full open, smoker gas control at max. red control on regulator at about 1/2 open.
Fifth is as above with red control turn down till flame is non-existand.
It is my understanding that a yellow flame indicates a lack of oxygen; mulling over the thought of opening the holes in the burner stem. Your thoughts on the above
thanks Bikerbob

Not as experiencedd as many on here but I don't like the lazy flame from your burner with the gas valve on hi,tank valve fully open, and regulator 1/2 open. You should have a very active flame under those conditions. Seems to me as if you aren't getting much gas pressure from tank to flame. What does it look like as you open the regulator more? Just guessing but I'd say you have a creature who has built a home in the supply line. Looks like a new smoker or one well cared for. Is it new and this your first smoke? If so, I'd contact Masterbuilt with this and see what they say. I've worked with them on my older model MPS250S/20051214 and gotten good resopnse.
