This morning I went fungi hunting and found enough for a couple meals! Just so happened I had a nice thick Iowa chop ready for the grill and the fresh morals would be great addition to the chop and naked sea salt crusted potato.
So good I think I’ll hunt for more tomorrow.

Great meal. For some reason I don't associate foraging Morels in Iowa.
mmm Morels
Makes me reminisce to many years ago of an omelet with farm fresh cackle berries, garden fresh Walla Walla sweet onion, fresh Dungeness crab, and foraged Morels.

The last time I picked fire morels, I got a touch over 30lbs in one day. While l love them with chops, they REALLY don't like me or my wife. They can be a potent laxative for some of us.

Great looking meal there ishi!

@nlife -burn morels...had to look them up. Never heard of them before. Interesting....

They're really prolific the year after a fire and a lot of people pick them to sell to buyers around here. Heck we have pickers coming from across the country since it's a fairly decent under the table cash economy.

Back when the fires were near where I live, I had assembled a number of predictive maps to help locate them, but it's hard to beat intuition.

I wish we had them out here, as I absolutely love them. I have a friend that dries me up a bunch each spring and sends them to me from his ranch in Wisconsin. He says he doesn't leave his driveway looking for them.

Found a nice batch this morning! Gave most of them to my Pastor and friends! More than I can eat.
