Hey all, was chatting with my Mom on baking and getting started. She had many stories of her, my Grandmas and my Great Grandma baking.

My Mom is an excellent baker and was taught mostly by my Great Grandma who made everything 100% from scratch. I do remember her and have some fond memories even though she passed when I was age 7. She was an awesome cook and baker… always made a full on spread be it breakfast, lunch or dinner!

So Mom pulled out this recipe of my Great Grandmas for me to try. I will hopefully be trying soon. This old paper has seen better days… but has been used a lot over the years.

Anyway, I know a lot of you enjoy baking and your results are just amazing. I have learned so much from this forum… it’s just beyond comprehension when I think of the knowledge I’ve gained here from being a newbie until now.

So, I’d like to share my Great Grandma Vera’s Hamburger Buns recipe with you all as a way of showing my appreciation for everything over the years. I hope some of you will try it and drop a line back on this thread with your thoughts. Here it is…

Hope some try it and enjoy!

I'll look through that later . Thanks for posting , but go get the pages laminated so you keep that in good shape .

No problem Rich, hope you try and enjoy! So, I just took a pic… but told Mom to get the old recipes like this all together and I’d go laminate them for her. Appreciate the like as well!

Thanks for sharing Justin! Might gonna have to try this! So at the top 1 1/2 scalded milk... I'm thinking cups?

Ryan

Thanks for the like and reply Ryan. Yes, I just noticed that as well. I am almost positive it’s cups… but let me verify with Mom.

One mistake I made when my mom was alive was not leaning her bread making techniques!
A lot of your what your recipe calls for I remember mom doing some of the same! I’m sure your recipe is killer! Thanks for sharing

Most awesome to have these recipes from mom. I wish I had my moms and grans.

Scalded milk tells me it is an old school recipe.
In these days of pasteurized milk, scalding is generally not needed.
Laminated & digitized are forever filing.

I only wish I could bake, but the precision alludes me. I've barely struggled to create a few pizza crusts. that's what I have the missus for :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing:

Thanks Ishi for dropping a line and the like. I hope you try this and enjoy. Hopefully the recipe will be close to what your Mom made.
