I just got a LEM brand for Xmas for under $100. Actually everyone had them on sale around here around Xmas time and lots of them were under $100.

some other members also purchased it at the same time I did.
I only have used mine to slice up pork loins that I've made Canadian bacon out of . I also sliced a bottom round roast after I smoked it . Someone had said it wouldn't do paper thin but I think the secret to that is to have the meat just about frozen . I have to baby mine a little bit ( as far as feeding the meat slowly ) but it still beats trying to slice up a pork loin into about 100 slices or whatever . I think my expectations of it were kind of high because I was thinking of a commercial slicer like at the deli counter but this one is definately not like a commercial one , but it serves me well for the little bit I use it.

I've been trying to find a good (non commercial) slicer for years without any luck. I would love to hear what everyone else is using with good results. My main use would be for slicing jerky.

I bought mine from salesstore.com, and I am very happy with it. I don't have to put meat in the freezer to slice it. I highly recommend it.

This is the one I have I got it at hsn.com but they don't show it anymore. When I got it it was 99 dollars with a regular blade and serated. I haven't used the serated blade yet but the slicer is very strong and no heat up or time outs.

I had another one (different brand) and returned it for lack of slicing consistency. This one works and is easy to clean.

I've heard that the Chef's Choice models in the $100 - $200 range are good units; I think that would be what I'd get when I get ready to purchase one.

I just bought this same model off of Amazon(it's now $10 cheaper than 2 days ago. Story of my life.). I have not used it yet, but I chose it because it was the only <$100 slicer that they carried that wasn't rated at 3 stars or less, and this was 4 1/2(after hearing Ron's comment I feel better yet). I have had my fill of junky cheap slicers. The construction looks great, and I'll update in a couple of weeks when I'm slicing bacon.

If you have any problems I would buy the non serated blade. Otherwise let us know how the serated blade works.
