Hey... My GF is hard core w/ Organic Lifestyle and few other family members of mine are also getting on board w/ the Organic Movement... & i have to admit i myself am also getting into it... I notice quite a difference in the flavor of my organic meats, veggies, spices, and so on than i do with other non-organic products... so any way my GF got me to watch this Documentary Food Inc, and it was really eye opening... if any of you have seen this please chime in, it is insane how the fast food market control so much of what we consume... and how our livestock is treated and pumped w/ chemicals... anyway, if you haven’t tried Organic i suggest give it a try and see if you notice a difference... And also check out this Documentary... it is worth it IMO

I've not seen this movie, but have heard about it from plenty of people that have sat through it. I read the book Fast Food Nation which was similar to this movie and got a real eye opener from that. Don't need to see the visual portion of what they do.

I haven't seen it either, but i do agree that most of what the big food industry shovels at us is pure garbage. I don't do the organic thing, but when I go to the store, all i buy is what I call "raw materials". Why buy mac n cheese in a box when you can make it better yourself? Why buy a frozen pizza when you can make a better one yourself? Why buy green beans in a can when they have fresh ones two aisles over? Then YOU get to control what goes in your food, not some scientist.
For convenience sake, people are willing to overlook all the chemicals and salt and Lord knows what else is in there. I refuse to do it.

Wow... ok I'll get off my soap box now

"organic" is in the eye of the beholder. I have eaten "organic" BB ribs and the only difference I could discern was the price. Indeed it seems to me that chasing the "organic" designation is an excellent way to increase the margin. This link explains how maple syrup get to be called "organic". It really has nothing to do with the quality of the sap from the trees or the sugar content of the final product. The last line says it all - the organic movement is about "shared values"

Then there's this-

FWIW I do shop at the local "organic" specialty shop for spices for my rubs because I can buy at a bulk price and they are fresher, which does make a world of difference in taste. BTW those "organic" ribs are $6.99/lb.

Its really interesting and sometimes tells more than you want to know. its like 90 min. long but if you get a chance to watch it you learn alot!! good and bad.

I didn't think it was that shocking? I kinda thought it would make me think twice about meats but then again i already know that its all so mass produced and injected with bs that i immediately buried my head back in the sand, then headed to Sams Club for more cheap meat.

this is a great show that goes much farther than organic or not, or the day in the life of a farmer.
