Hey all. I've been interested in smoking for a few years and finally decided to take the plunge and buy a smoker for father's day.

After much reading and going back and forth, I decided an electric would suit my schedule and personality best. My budget limited me to a few choices and I ended up with a Master Forge from Lowes.

I was kind of concerned about some of the negative comments but it seems that in this price range they all have negative comments.

I seasoned it on Saturday and smoked 2 whole chickens on Sunday. They came out good but not great. For my first attempt, I was pleased but there is definitely room for improvement. I'll post more details over in the poultry section.

BTW, I'm 44 and live just outside of Springfield, IL. I have to boys, 19 & 20, and a wife of 24 years, marriage that is, not 24 years old. My 20 yr old is quite the chef. He is always reading thru different cook books and whipping up stuff for us to try. He's quite the foodie and is pretty excited about the new smoker.
