She loved them, everybody was happy. Already thinking of the next cook. I appreciate the like

Absolutely Great!
Starting off with a success sounds very encouraging!
Woo-Hoo! Enjoy!
And Thanks for taking us along on the Maiden Voyage!

Congrats on the first cook, I will eventually get my hands on a Lang. The brisket looks like it turned out great!

What a GREAT smoke! Happy wife, happy life, and hubby's secret to more BBQ toys.
She’s definitely happy and on board, she started a chili yesterday without even telling me because she was planning for the left over brisket. She’s gonna make me up my game which is fine with me lol

I have zero regrets about getting my Lang. I highly recommend it

That looks great! sorry i missed this thread before. as far as starting the Lang weed burners are nice but if youdon't have and can't get one (my wife wont let me have one) there are starting alternatives. you can use a charcoal basket. (which i used to use) or similar to Smokin Al's methods but i use 2-3 starter cubes under the grate in the firebox. i just light them and let them burn the charcoal and wood for a while until there is a fire going and then shut the cook chamber with open lock so it drafts for a few more minutes then shut the cook chamber the rest of the way and let it heat up.

here is using a charcoal basket..i put in wood

then i put in hot coals on the wood

then i put the basket in the smoker and let it catch fire...

the other way similar to Al's with the lighter cubes...

You will find what works best for you. make sure to remove the ash from the bottom of the smoker (under the grate) before you start your fire to get good air flow. you will figure out the position of the dampers for the temps you want to run. learning your smoker is part of the fun!

Happy Smoking,
phatbac (Aaron)

Thanks Aaron, great tips.

Sorry I missed this thread as well, you did AWESOME! Pretty brave going brisket on your first go round but you clearly knocked it outta the park!! Enjoy the new Lang. I'll have mine fired up at the crack of dawn!

Point!!

Thanks Saint. I really appreciate the point. I’ll be doing pineapple ribs tomorrow. The Lang will be gettin hot in the mornin. Have a great day.

I seriously appreciate you taking your time to post this. I will be experimenting with this for sure. You actually just made me realize I need a journal so I can keep track of all the good advice you recieve on this sight. thanks Sonny

I kinda do both. I have a folder on my browser named (aptly) Smoking Meat. I drag and drop links in it.
But, I also have a 3-ring binder I will print out things and put them in so I can lay it on the counter to work from.

If I was more serious about being paperless, I'd use my Baby Dell 2 in one as a portable compooter. But sometimes a printed sheet is just so much nicer.

Keep having great times and Great Food from your new Lang! ;):D
